Team Building and Leadership Training
Using Applied Theatre Techniques, 12 - 40 participants will develop strategies for internal community building and learn to use these tools in advocacy work in and outside the organization. Participants will practice skills and explore strategies that lead to:

• Inclusive communication

• Empowerment and motivation

• Discovering community needs

• Task focus and team building

An Illustration:
A faculty at a small college in which co-workers felt isolated. "We don't talk to each other any more." Through perception andhabit-breaking exercises, participants realized that they had developed routines that removed them from membership in a university community.

Through non-verbal exercises participants created images of their difficulties. They discovered that dialogue had been suspended in favor of rapid messaging, that clock watching had replaced chatting, and that thedivision between full and part timers had created an isolated work force.Classroom teachers were walking away from, rather than with, their students.
A simulation clearly indicated the kind of work that the participants needed to do to ensure that they were listening and to show how much could be accomplished by active sharing though dialogue with each other and with students. A renewed commitment to mentoring and multi-disciplinary studies served the mission of the school well.
