Performance development
We assist students and teachers who want to create scripts for live or video performances for educational and/or advocacy purposes. Either interactive or discussion-generating scenes are created that present specific problems and rehearse solutions for real life implementation. The scenes can be created and performed by 12 – 25 participants or by our company members for the small group or for a larger audience (up to 200).
If the interactive development model isn’t right for you, our company can research, write and perform scenarios that expose issues of concern to your school and facilitate discussion that follows. We can also bring in performances of already existing scenes which use Forum Theatre as a way of allowing audience members to try out their own choices for problem solving. We have worked with groups to develop scripts focusing on homophobia, living with the “at risk student” label, self-esteem, and gender issues.
Examples of scripts ready for performance include:
Amy’s Addiction – about a teen who gets hooked on crack
Joey’s Lunch Money Blues – about bullying
Party Girl – about teen relationships and protecting yourself
"We all agreed that the experience of applied theatre will do more than any lecture to increase the likelihood that our students will actually 'say no' to use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs."
